Wine Pairings

Riesling

Muranda Dry Reisling has exotic tropical and citrus fruit flavors. Elegantly balanced with a hint of sweetness and by crisp acidity, finishing clean with just a hint of sweetness. Riesling grapes are harvested early in the season to capture their fresh fruit flavors. A long, cool fermentation is arrested just shy of bone dry leaving a dry wine balanced with pleasant, fruity, classic Finger Lakes Riesling characteristics. Pairs best with poultry, and seafood. Pair with Lady of the Lake, Muranda Blue.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet is best described as full-bodied wine lots of flavor. Pairs best with our Muranda Blue or even our Cranky Old Lady Cheddar.

Cabernet Franc

Muranda Cabernet Franc is a full-bodied, rich red wine, with a lingering finish and gentle tannins. This wine is made from grapes grown in specially selected vineyards in the Finger Lakes appellation. Pairs well with red meats, grilled or roasted vegetables. Pair with Muranda Blue or Red Rider

Chardonnay

Muranda Chardonnay has delicate fruit and melon aromas creating an elegant complexity brought forward with careful winemaking. The initial taste is clean and bright with a long, lingering finish. Pairs best with poultry, seafood. Pair with Red Buddy or even Rosie’s Choice Young Alpine.

Merlot

Merlot has rich aromas of currants and chocolate, with moderately spicy flavors and lingering finish. Mouth-filling flavors carry through on the palate, moderated by silky tannins and a long finish. Try our Dilly Girl, Bel Celio, or Gotcha Gouda.

Pinot Grigio

Pinot Gris is a lighter, crisper white wine. It is very refreshing and fruity. Try our Alpine Parmesan for the perfect match! Gotcha Gouda is also a good mate!

Sweet Wine

Muranda Niagara displays intense fruit flavors of freshly picked grapes. These flavors are balanced by a lusciously semi-sweet finish. This pleasant easy drinking wine is very agreeable when served well chilled, for picnics or every day enjoyment. Try Muranda Blue, Red Rider, or Young Cheddar.

Beer Pairings

Introduction

Pairing cheese with beer can seem somewhat hard to understand, but it is actually easier than you think. General rule of thumb is to choose cheeses you like and beers you like, and your taste buds will steer you in the right direction. The secret is not to have one cheese or beer over power the other. For example, you should not pair a very mild cheese with an IPA or a Stout because the beer will overpower the subtleness of the mild cheese. And vice versa, sharp cheddar or blue would be brought down by a lighter beer. Below we have listed out our cheeses and what they would be best paired with.

Cider Pairings

Pairing cheese with cider is exactly like pairing cheese with fresh fruit. It just goes together. Ciders do not bring a powerful enough taste, so naturally it brings out the best in the cheese.
